Women in Mining Calgary and CEP Calgary present a discussion on “Calgary’s Critical Minerals Contribution”

Critical minerals are key resources for the energy transition and sustainable technology. Natural Resources Canada has published a Critical Minerals List that identifies 31 minerals and metals considered essential for our sustainable economic success. Join us for a short panel discussion and networking to learn more about the opportunities for Canada and Calgary to position ourselves as leaders in this space.

Jana Hanova, M.Sc.

Senior Director | ESG Strategy

Jana is a leader in the ESG mining and advanced manufacturing space and has 19 years of sustainability experience. She focuses on corporate and ESG strategy, prioritizing ESG initiatives and delivering impact to teams and stakeholders. Based in Calgary, Jana has successfully led and supported complex transformation programs with a variety of clients in the resources, energy and manufacturing sector across the Middle East and North America.

Pierre Kennepohl, Ph.D.

Professor | Associate Dean for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships

Pierre Kennepohl is an inorganic chemist who has spent his career exploring the role and behaviour of metals in a wide range of areas including biomedicine, catalysis, food science, and mining. He is currently the Associate Dean for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships in the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary.

Joanie is a Senior Geologist with 15 years of experience. She spent her career working mainly in Western Canada’s oil patch, exploring and mapping both carbonate and clastic reservoirs throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. She has experience in drilling operations, reservoir development, and project management through her involvement in several successful light oil drilling and exploration programs, as well as spent time working in business development and acquisition and divestitures. Her transition to the mining sector happened in 2021 when she joined E3 Lithium. She is currently the Geoscience Manager where she supports the subsurface team in exploration drilling and sampling work, as well as reservoir modeling to help delineate E3’s extensive Lithium in brine resource in Central Alberta.
