About The Event

Sustainable finance is front and center in banking, industry investments, and government regulations.

Join us for a panel discussion and idea-filled conversation about how personal and corporate investments can be made with sustainability, Indigenous reconciliation, or ESG in mind.

We'll get you up to speed on the basics of:

  • Sustainability-linked loans and green bonds: how are financial institutions supporting change?
  • Federal policies and regulations: how does government policy drive action (or not)?
  • Green and Transition Finance Taxonomy: do words really matter?
  • Personal investment strategies: what impact can we make at a personal level?

Whether you're looking to get up to speed on the landscape of sustainable finance, learn new terminology, or update your own portfolio - this is the event for you!

Our panelists include:

Whitney Buhr

Senior Engagement Manager

Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation

Whitney brings over 14 years of energy industry experience, where she has focused on community and

Indigenous engagement, community investment, communications, and sustainability. Currently, she

works at the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation, a provincial Crown corporation with a

mandate to facilitate and welcome Indigenous investment and equity share ownership and partnerships

in Alberta’s natural resource, transportation, telecommunication, agriculture, and related infrastructure

projects. Whitney works closely with Alberta’s First Nations and Metis communities, Industry, and other

key stakeholders to ensure Indigenous groups can participate in these transformative partnerships.

Indigenous history in Canada. While studying, she spent time in south central BC living in the Stó:lō

engagement.
