Water you Tech-ing about?

Water is ubiquitous; we need it to drink, bathe, produce energy, swim, fish, cool, heat, circulate, provide habitat, and the list goes on. Water has historically been mis-managed and water supplies are increasingly polluted, scarce, or unreliable. Additionally, new pressures exist such as climate change, population growth, and emerging industries with unique water demands. Come join us to hear from three folks working in the water tech world who are disrupting the way we treat, use, and care for our precious water. This panel event is for anyone who wants to learn more about what it is like to work in the tech and startup space in Calgary, what challenges and opportunities are faced in water tech, and how we can collectively move the needle forward to address water issues. 

We are excited to welcome our panel speakers:

Chad Hayden - CEO & Founder of Galatea Technologies. Chad has over 15 years of experience in the field of engineering, corporate sales and business development. He has developed multiple internal software applications and is an expert at understanding client needs and translating them into products.

David Lloyd - CEO & Co-Founder of FREDsense Technologies. David’s work ranges from managing complex innovation programs to working in projects as diverse as DNA assembly, environmental remediation, and biosensors. He graduated from the University of Calgary with a Master's in Biochemistry and has since worked in various biosensor and synthetic biology projects. He is a former judge and committee member of the International Genetically Engineered Machines competition and has helped to support biotechnology start ups and community partnerships in Calgary for several years.

Robert Noakes - VP of Technology at Crystal Clearwater Resources. Bob has worked for ~10 years in technology, upstream engineering, and operations. During 8 years at Shell, he worked in Canada/US unconventionals, P&A technology, and 2 years at Shell TechWorks in Boston. Crystal Clearwater Resources is in the process of commercializing a novel desalination technology. Bob worked on early prototypes and is currently rolling out the 2nd generation design later in 2023. In his spare time, Bob enjoys windsurfing, music, tinkering with electronics, and mountain biking with his dog.
